GREEN EDGE SYSTEMS INTRODUCES ENTRÉES MENU BOARDS TO HELP SCHOOLS ADVANCE USDA'S HEALTH DIRECTION WITHOUT NEW FOOD COSTS

Developed with school nutrition professionals to help districts move forward now while working within current meal programs and budgets.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA, UNITED STATES, June 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Green Edge Systems today announced the introduction of its new Entrées Menu Board and Signage Product Line, a family of cafeteria communication products developed to help schools advance the USDA's new health direction while working within existing meal programs and food service budgets.

The new product line includes LED Flashing Entrée Menu Boards, LED Backlit Entrée Menu Boards, Dry Erase Entrée Menu Boards, Entrée Promotional Signage and USDA-inspired Inverted Pyramid communication designs that place greater visual emphasis on Entrées, Protein, Vegetables, and Fruits.

The Entrée product family is the result of more than six months of collaboration with school food service professionals seeking practical ways to move forward with implementation using existing menu programs, existing operational resources, and little or no immediate increase in food costs.

While many districts hoped that additional funding would accompany implementation, no specific funding commitments have been announced in connection with the new direction. School nutrition professionals also recognize that implementation extends beyond simply increasing traditional protein offerings and includes a variety of menu formats, including the newly permitted combination Protein-and-Grain entrées. As a result, many districts have focused on practical implementation approaches that can work across existing menus, current budgets, and future menu evolution.

While many districts hoped that additional funding would accompany implementation, no specific funding commitments have been announced in connection with the new direction

As a result, districts now need practical approaches that can move implementation forward immediately, deliver the anticipated student health benefits of the new direction, and meet USDA's new expectations while still working within current school meal realities.

The USDA's new direction encourages schools to place greater emphasis on Protein, Vegetables, and Fruits and to help students develop healthier eating habits through greater awareness of real food choices.

Working with school nutrition professionals, Green Edge Systems explored a simple question:

How can schools begin moving forward now?

One conclusion emerged repeatedly.

The opportunity may not be to immediately serve more protein.

The opportunity may be to help students better recognize and value the Protein already present in the meals they are selecting every day.

After all, many schools already serve a wide variety of meals containing Protein, including burritos, tacos, sandwiches, pizza, pasta dishes, breakfast items, grain-and-protein combination meals, bean-based offerings, and numerous other student favorites that already fit within current menus and budgets.

The challenge is often not the menu.

The challenge is visibility.

Districts also faced another practical implementation challenge.

The new USDA direction provides greater flexibility for schools to offer combination Protein-and-Grain menu items. As schools explored ways to utilize this flexibility, many concluded that an Entrée-based presentation model provided a natural framework for accommodating traditional protein meals, grain-based offerings, and combination Protein-and-Grain items while maintaining a simple and familiar experience for students and parents.

This realization led many districts to focus on a familiar concept already understood by students and parents:

Entrées.

Students understand entrées.

Parents understand entrées.

Restaurants use entrées.

The Entrée concept also naturally accommodates traditional protein meals, grain-based meals, and the newly permitted combination Protein-and-Grain entrée offerings now allowed under USDA meal requirements.

"Schools are not asking whether they should move forward. USDA has already made that direction clear. The question school nutrition professionals have been asking is how to move forward in a practical way while preparing students for healthier eating habits."

Tommy Orpaz, President of Green Edge Systems, said.

"Over the past six months, our discussions with districts consistently pointed to the same conclusion. Students already understand entrées. Parents understand entrées. By presenting meals through an Entrée framework, schools can begin supporting the new emphasis on Protein, Vegetables, and Fruits immediately while continuing to work within current meal programs and operational realities. The Entrée approach also gives schools a natural way to incorporate traditional protein meals, grain-based meals, and the newer combination Protein-and-Grain offerings within a single menu presentation system."

According to Green Edge Systems, the resulting product line provides schools with a practical implementation pathway that supports both existing meal programs and the evolving nutritional direction encouraged by USDA.

The new product family includes Entrée Menu Boards, Entrée Promotional Signs, LED Flashing Signs, LED Backlit Menu Boards, Dry Erase Menu Boards, and USDA-inspired Inverted Pyramid designs that place greater visual emphasis on Entrées, Vegetables, and Fruits.

Introducing AmeriPlate® Front-of-Serving-Line Menu Boards and Signage to Turn New USDA Guidelines into Student Action
Green Edge Systems’ new system helps schools move from offering food to guiding healthier student choices in line with the new Guidelines - visibly
WOODLAND HILLS, CA, UNITED STATES, March 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Green Edge Systems today announced AmeriPlate® Front-of-Serving-Line Menu Boards and Signage, a new system developed to help schools take practical, visible steps under the new USDA Guidelines in a way that reflects the School Nutrition Association’s emphasis on feasible implementation. SNA has said current school meals already include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, and protein, while also stressing that future standards updates must be realistic and workable for schools.

Green Edge Systems said AmeriPlate® Front-of-Serving-Line Menu Boards and Signage was built around that same practical approach: gradual but meaningful action now, without waiting for every sourcing, formulation, and regulatory issue to be fully resolved. The system is designed around small but significant steps that can be effective immediately, while also giving schools a long-term signage investment that remains useful as future requirements continue to phase in.

According to Green Edge Systems, this creates a positive path forward under the new USDA Guidelines. Schools do not need to stop, wait, or overhaul everything at once. They can begin with what is already being served daily and make the new direction visible where students choose - at the front of the serving line and in other high-visibility student-facing locations. Under current standards, school meals already include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, and protein, with additional sodium and added-sugar changes taking effect later.

Positioned at the front of the serving line and in other locations best seen by students, AmeriPlate® Front-of-Serving-Line Menu Boards and Signage is designed to help schools update menu boards and signage in an affordable way that aligns with the new USDA Guidelines, while continuing to support current reimbursable meal requirements and remaining valid for years to come. Green Edge Systems said this makes the system not only an immediate response to the new federal direction, but also a long-term investment schools can make now with confidence.

The new USDA Guidelines call for prioritizing protein, followed by vegetables and fruits as immediate visible priorities in daily food selection. Green Edge Systems said these three food groups should now be made most visible at the front of the serving line, where behavioral science shows the first foods students encounter are the most likely to be selected. One widely cited study found that more than 75% chose the first food they saw, and that the first three foods encountered accounted for 66% of all foods taken. Green Edge Systems said all new AmeriPlate® Front-of-Serving-Line Menu Boards and Signage designs were developed around these same principles, making protein the leading visual focus, immediately followed by vegetables and fruits.

Green Edge Systems said the new USDA Guidelines should not be approached as a wait-and-see framework in which schools delay visible action until every long-term requirement is finalized. While some federal requirements tied to sourcing, formulation, and procurement will continue to phase in over time, the broader direction of the new USDA Guidelines already calls for schools to act now on the parts they can make visible immediately. Green Edge Systems said schools do not need a total overhaul to begin. Significant immediate actions can include one-line signage that highlights protein together with vegetables and fruits, and front-of-line presentation that places protein first and keeps vegetables and fruits immediately following.

The new system includes front-of-serving-line menu boards, student-facing cafeteria signage, salad bar formats, LED flashing boards, dry erase and backlit menu boards, and NeonDynamic™ animated neon signs. Together, these solutions are intended to help schools turn the new USDA Guidelines into visible student action by changing what students see first, understand first, and choose first.

Green Edge Systems also said the new system reflects the visual language of the new USDA Guidelines. The company has introduced menu board styles based on the new USDA Inverted Food Pyramid, described in federal materials as “The New Food Pyramid,” a central visual of the 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Green Edge Systems said these formats help schools align menu presentation with the new federal health direction while reinforcing the priority of protein, vegetables, and fruits in a visually clear way.

“School Nutrition Association has made clear that implementation of the new USDA Guidelines must be feasible, while also recognizing that schools already serve the core food groups every day,” said Tommy Orpaz, President of Green Edge Systems. “Green Edge Systems is pleased to turn its leadership in school menu signage into a practical, affordable system that helps schools take real steps now while making an investment that will remain valuable for years to come.”

Green Edge Systems said the new USDA Guidelines represent a long-awaited shift in school nutrition direction, and that the success of that shift will depend not only on future compliance milestones, but on whether students begin seeing and responding to healthier guidance now. AmeriPlate® Front-of-Serving-Line Menu Boards and Signage was developed to give schools a basket of practical tools to support that shift with limited means and real-world ease of use.

Green Edge Systems Launches NeonDynamic™ & Expands AmeriPlate® for Immediate Alignment with 2025-30 Nutrition Guidelines
New visual communication solutions enable school food services to implement federal nutrition priorities immediately - before the multi-year menu reformulation.

Nutrition policy changes expectations immediately. Signage is how schools translate those expectations into daily student behavior”
— Tommy Orpaz, President, Green Edge Systems

WOODLAND HILLS, CA, UNITED STATES, February 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Green Edge Systems today announced the launch of NeonDynamic™, a new animated neon signage line for school nutrition environments, alongside the expansion of AmeriPlate® graphics across its existing menu board portfolio. Together, these solutions are designed to help school food services align immediately with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025-2030 by translating national nutrition direction into clear, point-of-service student guidance.

School nutrition programs are entering a new phase where communication infrastructure plays a direct role in compliance, participation, and student selection behavior. While ingredient and procurement changes occur gradually, the priorities established by the new Dietary Guidelines - stronger emphasis on protein, fruits and vegetables, and balanced meal construction - are expected to be communicated now where students make daily choices.

As federal guidance increasingly focuses on selection behavior within Offer vs. Serve, visual guidance at the point of service is emerging as operational infrastructure rather than optional signage.

NeonDynamic™ introduces Dynamic animated neon visual guidance specifically designed for high-traffic cafeteria environments. Rotating prompts reinforce meal-building steps directly in student decision flow, supporting consistent selection behavior without adding staff workload or technology complexity.

At the same time, expanded AmeriPlate® graphics applied across LED Flashing, Dry Erase, and LED Backlit menu board formats allow districts to deploy consistent, guideline-aligned messaging across service lines using familiar, low-maintenance signage formats.

This combined approach enables districts to:

Prioritize protein, fruits, and vegetables in student decision flow

Reinforce reimbursable meal construction visually

Align cafeteria communication with federal nutrition priorities immediately

Support Offer vs. Serve behavior through structured prompts

Demonstrate visible implementation momentum during Administrative Review cycles

"Guidelines become real only when students see them where decisions happen," said Tommy Orpaz, Green Edge Systems. "Schools cannot wait for multi-year menu reformulation cycles. NeonDynamic™ and the expanded AmeriPlate® graphics give districts a practical way to act now."

Cafeteria signage is evolving from menu display toward structured meal-decision guidance. By combining dynamic animated messaging with standardized visual frameworks, Green Edge Systems positions signage as a core implementation layer for modern school nutrition programs.

Green Edge Systems Introduces AmeriPlate™ and NeonStrike™ to Help Schools Translate USDA Guidance into Student Action
Green Edge Systems Introduces AmeriPlate™ and NeonStrike™ to Help Schools Act Immediately on New Federal Dietary Guidance

“Signage turns USDA nutrition guidance into visual cues students can follow in seconds.”
— Tommy Orpaz, President, Green Edge Systems

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, February 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Following the January 7, 2026 release of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025–2030 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), school food services nationwide are now expected to translate updated nutrition priorities into practical cafeteria practices that students can follow at the moment they make their meal selections.

For many districts, this means shifting menu communication from highlighting what is being served to helping students understand how to build a balanced meal in line with the new federal direction - at the exact moment they choose.

Green Edge Systems today introduces AmeriPlate™ and NeonStrike™, signage solutions designed to help schools make this shift immediately - without changing menus, disrupting operations, or replacing existing systems.

From MyPlate to AmeriPlate™ - A Practical Transition

AmeriPlate™ builds on what students already recognize while aligning with today’s emphasis on real foods and simple meal-construction cues:

* Choose a protein

* Include at least ½ cup of vegetables or fruit

* Add one additional food group

These cues are presented where they matter most: directly in students’ line of sight as they move through the service line.

In practice, signage turns USDA nutrition requirements into visual cues students can follow in seconds.

“Dynamic Boards” are:

NeonStrike™ Animated Neon Signs & Green Edge LED Flashing Menu Boards

Green Edge Systems is known in the school nutrition market for introducing dynamic signage - boards that change visually every second, rather than remaining static like posters or slowly rotating like digital screens.

These include:

* NeonStrike™ Animated School Neon Signs - LED neon signs where words such as VEGGIES, FRUIT, PROTEIN, MILK, WHOLE GRAINS, or PICK 3 animate in a repeating visual cycle.

* AmeriPlate™ LED Flashing School Menu Boards - Menu boards that present daily offerings while subtly flashing guiding food-group cues that continuously draw student attention.

* AmeriPlate™ Dry Erase & LED Backlit School Menu Boards - Flexible, easy-to-update boards that clearly present daily menus while reinforcing food-group guidance at the point of selection.

Why Dynamic Signage Matters in Cafeterias

In K-12 cafeterias, students make decisions in seconds while walking, talking, and often distracted. Research behind the Smarter Lunchrooms approach shows that visibility, placement, and simple cues strongly influence student choices without changing menus.

Studies from visual-attention research further support that:

Dynamic signage attracts 2×–4× more visual attention than static signage in high-traffic environments.

Animated displays are noticed significantly faster and viewed more frequently than static signs.

Motion-based cues improve message recall when viewers are distracted.

This is where signage plays a critical role - translating federal nutrition standards into instant, easy-to-follow visual guidance for students.

Two Flexible Paths for Schools

Option 1 - Refresh or Replace Menu Signage
Schools can adopt AmeriPlate™ LED Flashing, Dry Erase, or LED Backlit boards so daily offerings visually reflect updated nutrition priorities.

Option 2 - Enhance Existing Systems with NeonStrike™
Schools with digital or static signage can add NeonStrike™ to reinforce key nutrition cues without replacing current infrastructure.

“Schools don’t need to redesign menus overnight - they need to make USDA nutrition guidance visible at the moment students choose. Signage turns those requirements into visual cues students can follow in seconds.”
- Tommy Orpaz, President, Green Edge Systems
